bordered-thumb-2BEach week 14 million Australians meet on sporting fields and courts across the country.

The sporting field is the heart of the community. And now more than ever, there is a crucial need for support and care in these spaces.

Sports Sunday is one day when the church thinks about, prays for, and dedicates themselves to being a presence in the local sports community.

Thousands of potential chaplains are currently standing on the sidelines of the community sporting courts and fields, ready to make a positive impact in their community.

Sports Sunday is an encouragement for them to get into the game.

How Does it Work?

Step 1 – Your game plan

When you register your church for Sports Sunday, you will have access to our downloadable resources that will help your Congregation understand the incredible opportunity surrounding Sports Chaplaincy.

To tell this story, you’ll be able to choose from:

  • A 3 minute video
  • Sermon notes
  • Powerpoint slides
  • Posters and Handouts

Step 2 – Identify Opportunities

The main goal of Sports Sunday is to help your congregation see the opportunity that exists in their local sporting communities – where many of them already are each week.

Invite your members to stand if they are in any way already connected (whether they play sport themselves, coach or volunteer in the local community or take their kids to sport).

Step 3 – Pray

While these ‘potential chaplains’ remain standing, as a congregation, commit these people to God.

Take the opportunity to also pray for the local clubs and sporting communities in your area.

Step 4 – Give and Go

Sports Chaplaincy needs you!

For as little as $12/month, you could start someone’s chaplaincy journey.

GIVE- for as little as $12/month you could start someone’s chaplaincy journey.

GO – consider becoming a Sports Chaplain.

Having a chaplain provides invaluable support for both me and the individual players.

Josh Moore
- Rye Football Netball Club

I believe chaplains are much-needed resources in our game. I think a lot of clubs don’t even realise the value they bring.

Craig Bellamy
- Melbourne Storm Coach, NRL

The professional, caring attitude of the sports chaplains helped ease the pain of our loss somewhat, and guided us through some difficult times.
